Via David Boaz, I see that a student had a Dave Barry quote taken down from his office door by his department’s chair on the grounds that it was “patently offensive". The horrifying quote?

“As Americans we must always remember that we all have a common enemy, an enemy that is dangerous, powerful, and relentless. I refer, of course, to the federal government.”

Here’s the funny part: I really have no idea whether the department chair is a left-wing or a right-wing nutjob.

In Seattle, the lefties consider it racist to favor individualism over collectivism. But righties nationwide abhor a “blame America first” attitude, at least while Republicans run the government.

You really can’t tell them apart sometimes.
