Chris Dial
From Wiki Gonzalez
Chris Dial is a BTF stalwart and longtime Internet baseball icon, contributing much color to the site.
In the late 1990s he invented DPI (Dial Player Index) (http://groups.google.com/groups?q=%22dial+player+index%22&hl=en&lr=&group=rec.sport.baseball.*&c2coff=1&safe=off&selm=3815d7c0%240%24214%40nntp1.ba.best.com&rnum=1) to incorporate Zone Rating (or Defensive Average/Defensive Runs) for defense and Jim Furtado's Extrapolated Runs into one convenient formula.
Chris often will make comments in threads to the effect that any current research being discussed has, for all intents and purposes, already been done on rec.sport.baseball, or maybe even before then.
He lives in North Carolina, belongs to SABR, is a Mets fan, and an unrepentant Cardinals hater. Just ask him about Gold Glove third baseman and MVP Terry Pendleton and watch the steam rise from your monitor. He also thinks the Rick Ankiel story is overblown and overhyped, and has said as much in various Ankiel threads on Primer.
Chris could pass himself off as Sean Forman's older brother.
He also has the dubious distinction of setting the records for most consecutive posts in the lounge with 19 here (http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/files/primer/discussion/30622/P200/)
For no particular reason, I've decided to believe that Chris Dial drives a car with pimpin' shiny chrome Sprewell spinning hubcaps. It's a good belief to hold.
Though an ardent NY Mets fan, Chris Dial takes time to help the little people of New York, sort of saving Alex Rodriguez's life on Friday, October 13, 2006. Nice!

Doug Pappas loved Route 66. He used to travel and take photos along it (his weblog was "Roadside Photos"). Chris took this picture to send to him in a small shop right at the end of Rte 66 near the Santa Monica Pier.
This was approximately one year before Pappas died.
