Wedding Girl
From Wiki Gonzalez
Dear Wedding Girl,
I’m writing ostensibly because I want photographs you took at a wedding… but really, I can live without the wedding pictures. It is for you that my heart pines. When I think of those digital images of a wedding, of a life together beginning, it’s not the faces of our mutual acquaintances I see. For I can’t help but put us in their spots--using Photoshop if necessary.
I know you are far from me, but consider the sun--93 million miles away, and yet its heat and its light reach us unimpeded. So it is with your life, your soul; you shine with the brilliance of the sun and you too warm my spirit and brighten my days. You, the twin sister of the sun, have a luminescence that is not diminished by the great distance between us.
With humility and reverence I ask to buy you food. And yet as humbled as I am by my love for you, I can’t deny the audacity of thinking myself worthy of you. Why, I ask myself, when I am in such awe of you, do I also fancy myself deserving of your affection? It’s because you inspire me; my admiration for you brings with it the realization of what a human being can be--what I can be. You make me see the good in myself; by your even deigning to read this you elevate me to a state I never thought possible. Like China and Taiwan, we belong together as one.
With love eternal, C-Wok
