Unbalanced schedule
From Wiki Gonzalez
A schedule with a team playing more games against teams in its own division, in contrast to a balanced schedule, in which a relatively equal number of games are played against all teams in the league. (When the American League had 14 teams and 2 divisions, each team played the teams in its division 13 times a season, and the teams in the other division 12 times a season.)
The benefit of an unbalanced schedule is that you get more games against your divisional rivals, such as Yankees-Red Sox, Cardinals-Cubs, and Rockies-Diamondbacks. The problem with the unbalanced schedule is that teams are not competing on a level playing field, especially for the wild card.
