The Run Fairy

Felix Heredia (born 1975) is The Run Fairy (also known as TRF). He "earned" this nickname by being the worst relief pitcher in recent memory, most notably as a member of the New York Yankees.

Profile
After one and a half seasons of thrills as a Yankee, TRF was mercifully traded to the New York Mets on December 3, 2004. Mets fans were pleased as well with the deal, as Mike "Game Over" Stanton was shipped back to the Bronx. On April 19, 2005, after 3 games and 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief, TRF went onto the Mets' disabled list and never left. At the end of the season, his contract was not renewed.
TRF was scheduled to sit out the first ten games of the 2006 season for violating the MLB steroid policy. However, he was released in Arizona Diamondbacks spring training and never resurfaced, so he did not have the opportunity to serve that suspension.
In early 2007 he hooked up with the American League champion Detroit Tigers as a non-roster invitee to spring training, but the early results (http://newyork.yankees.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20070305&content_id=1828505&vkey=spt2007gamer&fext=.jsp&c_id=nyy) were classic TRF.
Nickname history
Heredia was first given the nickname "The Run Fairy" by rLr in a Yankee Game Chatter on Baseball Think Factory during the early 2004 season.
The devious TVerik, also a Yankee fan, registered "The Run Fairy" in 2004 and popped into Yankee Game Chatter to annoy everybody. The novelty wore off, Heredia was traded south to Queens, and all was forgotten.

According to Repoz, at a BPro/Pinstriped Bible book gig at the Coliseum Bookstore, a Yankee blogger took credit for the nickname during a Q&A with Joe Sheehan ..."And Felix Heredia, I call him 'The Run Fairy,' was terrible last season."
