Styx

From Wiki Gonzalez

Styx is a Chicago-based rock band particularly popular in the 1970s and early 1980s.

In its heyday, Styx was fronted by two men: keyboardist Dennis DeYoung, who did vocals for most of their big hits like "Grand Illusion," "Come Sail Away" and "Mr. Roboto"; and guitarist Tommy Shaw, who did vocals for other hits like "Blue Collar Man" and "Heavy Metal Poisoning."

Styx's albums became platinum sellers and produced multiple rock radio standards, but overblown power ballads and a theatrical approach to their music made them critical failures. This opened the way for punk and other harder-edged rock forms to rebel against the excesses of Styx and similar bands.

Styx broke up and re-formed multiple times in the 1980s and 1990s before being reincarnated as a touring nostalgia band, trying to attract middle-aged fans who grew up enjoying their music. Shaw remains a member, while DeYoung has moved on to acting and solo work.

DeYoung is a die-hard White Sox fan. According to Urban Faber in a Rob Neyer Chat Wrap thread, he wrote a song, "Run Sox Run," that was played at Comiskey Park before Sox games.
