Slippery slope

From Wiki Gonzalez

A Slippery Slope (http://www.datanation.com/fallacies/distract/ss.htm) is when one event is said to trigger multiple following events, which results in an unacceptable result.

On BTF you might see someone arguing against a salary cap. They might say that a salary cap will lead to lower salaries, which will lead to fewer athletes going into MLB, which will lead to such poor play that MLB will be reduced to beer-league softball level play, so a salary cap is bad.

It's almost certain that a slope has become slippery when someone invokes Godwin's Law (http://www.faqs.org/faqs/usenet/legends/godwin/). Since nearly every invocation of this law is incorrect, it's important at this point to be prepared to point out that only a mouth-breathing nitwit would be so ignorant as to misuse the term in such a manner. This rhetorical tactic will certainly score you many points and encourage others to rally to your just and noble cause.
