Service time

Players are credited with a day of service time for each day spent on a team's Active List during any championship season. 172 days of service constitute a full year, and players cannot be credited with more than 172 days of service in any season.

Players with six years of service time are eligible for free agency, and players with at least three but fewer than six years are eligible for salary arbitration.
