Pronounce Primer

The original concept of Primer involved the creation of a primer in the sense of a book that describes the basics of a subject. As such, the word would usually be pronounced with a short i, as in "primmer."

However, many Primates pronounce it with a long i, "pry-mer," as in an undercoat of paint.

Primer with a long i can also be used to mean a small explosive used to detonate a larger one, as in an atomic bomb, which somehow seems appropriate.

The official stance of Baseball Think Factory is that it is pronounced with the long i as in "pry-mer."

The name of the regulars who frequent the site, however, is pronounced "Primmate."
