philistine is a relative newcomer to baseball, being introduced to serious fandom of it by fra paolo in 2002. He was a fan of the Expos until they moved, and still looks at the Nationals score first every morning.

He is an acknowledged expert in the birthplaces of active foreign major league ballplayers, and an ardent supporter of a baseball World Cup.

He also has a critical familiarity with the key works of Luis Buñuel, who made no films overtly about baseball, but settled in Mexico in exactly the same year that the Liga Mexicana de Béisbol was formed (1946).
