Nolan Ryan

From Wiki Gonzalez

Pitcher with 324 wins, 5,714 strikeouts, and seven no-hitters, often cited as one of the most overrated players of all time by Primer posters, at least by those not standing near enough to him to get the Robin Ventura treatment.

He had the worst run support of any retired 300-game-winner.

Ryan is one of those guys who gets overrated by the mainstream media, and then saber-types point out he's overrated, and as such he ends up getting underrated by the sabers. Ryan may not have been the most dominant pitcher of all time, and doesn't belong in conversations about who is the best pitcher of a generation or anything like that. But he was a damn fine pitcher, who pitched well above average in difficult conditions for a number of years. His accomplishments and durability are singular, and you can't really argue that he didn't contribute on the field.

So he's not Walter Johnson. So what? If you don't want him, I'll take him.
