Mark Grace
From Wiki Gonzalez
Mark Grace is a former first baseman for the Cubs and Diamondbacks. Blessed with blond good looks, he currently works as a color commentator on the Diamondbacks broadcasting team.
Grace is perhaps best known for having the most hits in the 1990s. (This is not the same thing as being the best hitter in the 1990s.) Never a power hitter, he made up for his lack of home runs with a high batting average, good batting eye, and excellent defense.
Cub fans (at least the Primate species) suspect Grace has unresolved issues with the Cubbies, who let him go after the 2000 season. The very first time he was interviewed after Arizona's World Series triumph in 2001, he took the opportunity to slam the Cubs for not re-signing him. A peculiar reaction, to say the least. "Bitter jerk" may be a better phrase.
Grace also educated the public on the "slumpbuster," if not coining the term himself. In his words, "A slumpbuster is when you have to take one for the team. It's finding the biggest, nastiest, fattest broad, and you put the wood to her to come out of your slump. Also known as 'jumping on a grenade for the team'."
