Major League Baseball is the entity that controls the highest level of baseball as played on the planet Earth.

MLB is run (coughintothegroundcough) by the evil emperor Bud Selig. In terms of economics, Selig manages MLB as a cartel of owners whose capacity for shenanigans is seemingly unlimited.

The thirty teams in MLB compete every summer for the right to play in the World Series. Teams that don't qualify for the World Series (see Devil Rays, Tigers, Cubs, et al.) play for the Stanley Cup or race in the Kentucky Derby.
