John Mabry (born 1970) is a longtime utilityman for many MLB teams, and one of the principals in the John Mabry-Jeremy Giambi thread of 2002, in which the F. nickname was introduced to Primer.

The trade discussed in that thread occurred when he was a barely-used pinch-hitter for the Phillies, and on the verge of washing out of the major leagues forever. Incredibly, he put together a strong 2002 campaign for the Athletics, his career revitalized, and he moved on to become a key bench player on the 2004 National League champion Cardinals.

As of 2007, John F. Mabry is still playing for the Colorado Rockies, and is an object lesson to all baseball analysts (sabermetric and non-sabermetric) of the unpredictability of career patterns.
