Jeff M
From Wiki Gonzalez
Jeff is a charter member of the Hall of Merit (http://digamma.net/btfwiki/index.php/Hall_of_Merit) project and has voted in every election. Jeff was a frequent contributor in the early days of the project, including during the adoption of the rules underlying the project (but was then known as ChapelHeel). He began backing off when his posts starting inciting anger in others. Apparently talking like a lawyer pisses people off. :)
Now he posts primarily when he can think of something funny to say.
His methods for evaluating players have been reevaluated no less than 20 times, but are centered around the same system developed at the outset of the project. Since he is a law professor by day, he "grades" candidates in several categories, including their Sim Scores, Grey Ink, HoM Monitor, HoM Standards, WS (peak and career measures), WARP1 (peak and career measures), relative runs created and Keltner Lists. All of the foregoing are modified for HoM use, including altering the categories, season-length adjustments, normalization to approximately 1974 standards, and park-adjustments, among others. The result is a GPA and class rank for the players being evaluated.
Jeff is never too high or too low on consensus scores, but has at least 25 players in his personal Hall of Merit that are not in the actual version. One of those will not be his favorite baseball player, Davey Lopes.
He also had the honor of attending a Rush concert in Charlotte, NC with the Hall of Merit founder Joe Dimino, who is a good driver. :)
