Hilaripus

"Hilaripus" is an alternate spelling of the adjective "hilarious."

The earliest known official appearance of the word was as the registered name of a private sailing yacht on the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia in 1981. The word was derived from the mispronunciation of 'hilarious' by the family's young children in the 1970s.

The word has also appeared as a typo by GGC on the #baseball_primer IRC channel, but it has evolved to become common usage on BTF.

It is often seen in the phrase "handstakingly hilaripus," meaning "really funny" or RDF.

Hilaripus is also what President Clinton gets when he's at home.

Harold Reynolds has been known to be hilaripus.
