Have their children taken away from them

From Wiki Gonzalez

Q. Why do Primates always suggest the remedy of having their children taken away from them?

A. It's a joke.

In August 2005, there was a thread about Todd Hundley, a former player for the Mets, Dodgers, and Cubs who had been in the news after being arrested for DUI with his children in his car. Eric Enders said Hundley should have his children taken away from him for this crime, and at least one Primate (Vlad) agreed.

Others chimed in that this was wildly over the top since: 1) the drunk driving test isn't perfect, 2) you don't take children away from a person as a punitive measure for violating a law, 3) he was driving a short distance at a very slow speed in residential roads in a Hummer, hence his children were in no danger at all.

The thread continued on from there for over 500 posts.

Enders backed off from his hyperbolic statement, and in an ensuing thread joked that a player accused of a minor infraction should have his kids taken away from him. A new running gag had begun.

Barack Obama is perhaps the most prominent politician to come out publicly in support of the taking of children. In a speech delivered on June 28, 2006, he stated that, "We all know the story of Abraham and Isaac. Abraham is ordered by God to offer up his only son, and without argument, he takes Isaac to the mountaintop, binds him to an altar, and raises his knife, prepared to act as God has commanded. Of course, in the end God sends down an angel to intercede at the very last minute, and Abraham passes God's test of devotion. But it's fair to say that if any of us leaving this church saw Abraham on a roof of a building raising his knife, we would, at the very least, call the police and expect the Department of Children and Family Services to take Isaac away from Abraham."

To date, Obama's controversial pro-taking-away-of-children stance has been largely ignored by the mainstream press.
