Feelies
From Wiki Gonzalez
The Feelies were an indie rock band hailing from tiny Haledon, New Jersey.
They gravitated to the junkie-festuning NYC/Hoboken underground music scene in the late 70's. Robert Christgau, the "Dean of American Rock Critics," had a hand in almost flattening their career with a Village Voice article on the group, hypo-generically calling them "the best underground band in New York."
1980 saw the release of the remarkable Crazy Rhythms; three widely-spaced albums followed, the last of which came in 1991.
The Feelies' body of work served to inspire many more famous indie rockers to come, such as Yo La Tengo (their labelmates) and REM (who went on to the big time).
Repoz is a big fan of the group. He has DJ'd at Maxwell's (http://www.maxwellsnj.com), where the Feelies performed their final live show in 1991.
