Ed Wade's Middle Relievers is a contributor of infrequent posts, mostly to Phillies threads. He continues to follow the Phillies from afar (DC) despite their longtime mediocrity and frequent disappointments. EWMR is unlikely to win a Primey for most informative poster. His favorite Phillies are Curt Schilling, Scott Rolen, and Bobby Abreu. Yes, two of the three are no longer with the team.

Formerly known as "JB in DC" and "John the Bearded Primate", EWMR's current handle derives from the tendency of Phillies GM Ed Wade to acquire aged and mediocre middle relievers throughout the offseason and at the trading deadline, often without solving more pressing problems on the team, such as weak starting pitching (1) (2) or under-producing outfielders (1) (2) (3).

After 2005, Ed Wade's 'championship-caliber club' failed to make the playoffs once again, and David Montgomery decided that Wade was not a championship-caliber GM. EWMR's handle may have to be changed.
