Economically illiterate bitches
From Wiki Gonzalez
In Baseball Prospectus on Sept. 3, 2002 (http://www.baseballprospectus.com/article.php?articleid=1625), during a roundtable discussion about the recently concluded baseball labor negotiations, Joe Sheehan, in a particularly bitter rant against baseball ownership and how they prey on the gullibility of media and fans, accused Americans of being 'petty, jealous, economically illiterate bitches.'
This provoked a lot of discussion in this Primer thread (http://www.baseballthinkfactory.org/files/newsstand/discussion/september_3_2002_prospectus_roundtable_strikes_end/), in which TangoTiger referenced the offending quote as his favorite line of the discussion.
It also caused one of the better jokes in one of John Brattain's better top ten lists. How do you know if you spend too much time on primer? When someone cuts you off in traffic, instead of shouting "S.O.B" at them you scream "E.I.B." instead.
John remarked that his having written a decent Top Ten list proves that even a blind squirrel (http://users.bestweb.net/~habitat/squirrels.htm) will find the odd nut.
Also known as Sheehan's Axiom. Unrelated to the techno song "Adam's Axiom", rumored to have been produced by a former primate.
