Damn Yankees were a rock supergroup from the late 1980s and early 1990s, fronted by seventies rock icon Ted Nugent, Jack Blades of Night Ranger, and Tommy Shaw of Styx.

Damn Yankees made some albums (http://music.msn.com/artist/?artist=16073560&stab=2) and released a few singles and videos, but the rise of grunge soon made their hard-rock stylings old hat and uncooler than Star Wars.

Damn Yankees! is also the title of a 1950s Broadway musical (later made into a movie). In it, a die-hard but frustrated middle-aged Senators fan makes a deal with Satan to be reborn as a superstar baseball player, whose mission it is to defeat the hated Yankees.

According to this Playbill report (http://www.playbill.com/news/article/85384.html), Miramax Studios has a Chicago-like movie remake of Damn Yankees! in development. To update it to modern times, the filmmakers may (should?) use the Devil Rays as the team with the oppressed protagonist, although die-hard Devil Rays fans do not yet exist.
