Corey Patterson
From Wiki Gonzalez
Corey Patterson (born 1979) was the #3 overall pick in 1998 as a draftee of the Cubs. His power and speed combined with his CF defense to peg him as a superstar in the making.
In 2003 he finally started to show his promise with a 116 OPS+ in a season cut short by injury.
In 2005 he started batting poorly, swinging at everything in the Chicagoland area, and was sent down to AAA for a period of time to work out his problems. That season, Cubs manager Dusty Baker often teamed him with Neifi Perez at the top of the batting order, forming the dreaded 1-2 punch of "Piss/Poor".
After being dumped onto the Orioles in an off-season trade, Patterson began to recover a little bit of the performance he flashed in Chicago, and established himself in 2006 as Baltimore's everyday center fielder.
Despite his struggles, he is Cabbage's favorite player. There is something about the "looks like he has potential but seems to strike out more than you'd expect" thing that is familiar to Cabbage.
