Chicago Cubs
From Wiki Gonzalez
The Chicago Cubs are an original National League team that has endured decades of anguish and frustration. Their periodic playoff runs (cf. 1969 (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1969.shtml), 1984 (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1984.shtml), 1989 (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1989.shtml), 1998 (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/1998.shtml), 2003 (http://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/CHC/2003.shtml)) have only worsened the pain. They are searching for their first World Series appearance since 1945, and their first Series victory since 1908.
The Cubs play their home games at Wrigley Field, where they enjoy the support of Cub fans and Lincoln Park Trixies worldwide.
They were formerly managed by Dusty Baker, who was a polarizing figure with BBTF Cub fans. They are currently managed by firebrand Lou Piniella, who is much better regarded. General manager Jim Hendry is responsible for acquiring the Cubs' talent, and is fearless about signing big-dollar free agents to augment the roster.
The Cubs are currently owned by the Tribune Company, who run Chicago's biggest newspaper and numerous radio and TV properties, on which the highs and lows of the team are splashed for all to see.
