Brandon Inge is a third baseman for the Tigers.
Inge became a Primer subject in January 2004, when a flurry of threads were devoted to his plight -- why the Tigers 2003 season was poor, why he had hit so bad over the previous three seasons, quotes from him on how he wanted to catch every day instead of playing behind impending signee Ivan Rodriguez, quotes from Tiger managers (all three of them) who still believed in his abilities.
Quite a few Primates wondered how a putrid non-entity like Inge garnered all this attention from the BTF powers-that-be, and it became somewhat of a running joke.
Despite all the scorn, in 2004 he put in a fine year backing up Pudge, playing a little third and outfield and hitting well. As of 2005, the Tigers made Inge their everyday third baseman, and traded for a backup catcher to handle Inge's former role. This has strangely turned out to be a good decision.
