Bowa Barrier

The Bowa Barrier is named for former player, Phillies manager, and current BTF regular Larry Bowa. It was first proposed in this thread as an OBP-based alternative to the Mendoza Line. For a player to break the Bowa Barrier, he must receive a significant amount of playing time, yet maintain an OBP at or below .300. Bonus points are awarded if the player has a decent batting average to cover up this flaw. It is named for Larry Bowa because of his career line of .260/.300/.320. It is generally agreed that .300 is about the lowest OBP a player can have and still be a useful contributor.
