Q. Was the term Beatagan created on Primer?

A. You bet your sweet bippie "Beatagan" was a Primer creation! And here is the man and the exact moment (see post #16) that it was created.

The term is popularly used to refer to the "two-headed" Orioles general manager's position, manned through 2005 by Jim Beattie and Mike Flanagan. Although there are many claims that others independently coined this moniker, be assured that BTF had it first!

After 2005, O's owner Peter Angelos, perceiving that his GM duo wasn't doing enough to improve his struggling team, removed Beattie from his position, breaking up the Beatagan team for good. Jim Duquette was hired from the Mets to replace some of Beattie's duties, but otherwise Flanagan remains as the man in charge (though Angelos has intentionally avoided giving him the title of General Manager).

Possible replacement terms like "Fluquette" and "Dook-again" have not yet shown staying power, and do not have close to the je ne sais quoi of "Beatagan."
