Baseball Newsstand
From Wiki Gonzalez
Baseball Newsstand is a page on Baseball Think Factory devoted to baseball news. It links to a timely variety of baseball news and blog items from across the web, and many of the links are submitted by Primates themselves.
Baseball Newsstand is exposed on Baseball Think Factory as a red "Newsstand" link on the top toolbar.
It is actually not a single page, but a filter. For easier reading, you can choose a Prime News view that doesn't include non-general items. You can also filter by a specific team (see the "Team Beats" dropdown menu on the left-hand side), or by a specific aspect of baseball (see the "Other Beats" dropdown menu).
Baseball Newsstand's presence on BBTF used to be extremely limited. It contained static links to news pages on every MLB team, as well as links to key baseball columnists. The Newsstand used to be at its own URL (BaseballNewsstand.com) and hardly changed since then, so many links went stale.
During the upgrades of 2006, Jim Furtado decided to integrate the multiple news item sections on BBTF onto one page (the "new" Baseball Newsstand) which would hold all news link items, thus deprecating the old Newsstand format. The old format was kept available at the Old-School Newsstand.
(Ken Rosenthal has admitted to checking out the Old-School Newsstand daily, so maybe it isn't so "deprecated" after all.)
